Emergency Management
What ADRA is doing…
ADRA Australia assists individuals and communities in times of disaster through provision of emergency assistance packages. ADRA works in conjunction with State Government Community Services departments to provide essential financial support for those people not covered by government-provided disaster relief arrangements. Additionally, under formal agreements with State and Territory Governments, ADRA facilitates emergency accommodation of evacuees and those who work in the Disaster Management sector supporting the community.
Services 'on the ground' are provided by teams of trained and resourced volunteers who work in partnership with other agencies to provide a comprehensive range of services whenever disaster strikes.
In some states ADRA represents the emergency accommodation function in planning and emergency services forums, contributing to the development of quality outcomes for disaster affected persons.
International Emergency Management
As part of the ADRA global network response, ADRA Australia provides emergency assistance to victims of natural and man-caused disasters including refugees and internally displaced persons. Such assistance includes food distribution, water, shelter, clothing, and healthcare. ADRA also works to transition its relief operations into long-term, sustainable development activities such as school and housing reconstruction.
