Support a Project
ADRA partners with communities in poverty to address vital issues such as food security, water and sanitation, education, economic development and the impact of HIV and AIDS. ADRA also works with vulnerable individuals and communities here in Australia.
Your support can help end the causes and effects of poverty around the world.
Here are some ways you can put your donation to work.
Need of the Month
Nepal: Literacy & Gender Awareness Training for Women
Imagine going to a shop not knowing
how to read. How would you choose your products? How would you know their price?
This is a reality for many women in Nepal. Lack of skills in literacy
and numeracy as well as lack of economic empowerment makes them vulnerable to
the effects of poverty and gender discrimination. You can change this! Donate today and empower
Nepalese women through literacy and gender awareness education.

Malawi: Water & Livelihood Training & Support
Looking
forward to growing older, retiring, having a break? For some people
that's only a dream. In Malawi, many don't even reach their fortieth
birthday because they have limited access to food and medical services.
ADRA's new Local Initiatives for Community Empowerment in Ntcheu
project will improve quality of life for people by providing income
generation, life skills and water management training and support. Your
help is needed to give Malawians a brighter future. So don't delay!

Vietnam: Confidential Hotline and Internet Counselling (CHIC) Service
Imagine living in constant fear and anxiety because you think you are dying? For many young people in the northern regions of Vietnam this is their reality, as the lack of information on issues such as adolescent development, reproductive health, relationships and substance abuse, causes them to fear the worst. ADRA’s Confidential Hotline and Internet Counseling Service provides a peace of mind to young people as it provides easy access to a reliable source of information by utilising a confidential hotline, internet counselling and regional health workers to provide greater access to information for adolescents. Your support today can give young people access to information and peace of mind.

Papua New Guinea: Woman and Child Health Program
Each day, nearly 30,000 children around the world die from illnesses that are either preventable or can easily be cured. In the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea children experience this fate due to lack of access to medical treatment. Medical assistance is often unavailable as many of the villages are isolated and lack or resources to sustain a clinic. ADRA is helping to combat this problem by providing women and children with access to medical treatment, medication, immunisations and health education through the Flying Medical Clinic. You can support this project by purchasing a Flying Medical Clinic visit from our Gift Catalogue. For only $395 you can provide an entire community with the medical care they so desperately need.

Mongolia: Water Wells Project
A major issue in Mongolia is a serious lack of water. With annual rainfall of less than 200mm, most Mongolian communities rely upon wells as their main source for water. In some provinces in Mongolia close to 80% of wells do not work. ADRA's Mongolia Water Wells Project focuses on three provinces that are in greatest need. Over the course of two years ADRA will purchase a drilling rig, train a team of water experts and install and restore over 40 wells in these provinces. ADRA will also develop systems to ensure these wells are able to be managed and maintained.

Solomon Islands: Boarding School Food Security Project
Rural families in the Solomon Islands are often forced to send their children away to boarding schools to obtain an education as schooling opportunities are not readily available locally. In many instances these boarding schools, however struggle to cater for the nutritional needs of the children and must send them back to their villages. This issue contributes to the low levels of educational attainment among rural communities. In response, ADRA has commenced a food security project which will facilitate workshops for the agriculture and catering staff and will provide training and education to help teachers cater to the nutritional needs of their students.

Papua New Guinea: Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre (VCT)
PNG has the highest incidence of HIV in the Pacific region. It is estimated that 2% of the adult population, approximately 64,000 people, are HIV positive*. In recognition of the threat that HIV poses, ADRA Australia is running a voluntary counselling and testing service that addresses issues of prevention, care and treatment of HIV. With your help ADRA can expand the provision of HIV & family counselling to a larger number of people that do not have access to health services provided by local hospitals. *AusAID, 2007

Australia: Women's Refuges
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 23% of women who had ever been married or in a de-facto relationship, experienced violence by a partner at some time during the relationship. ADRA-supported refuges have housed thousands of women and children in their safe accommodation facilities. With your help we can continue to provide refuge for women and children in these circumstances.
