National Programs

Australia

In partnership with local Seventh-day Adventist churches, ADRA supports initiatives such as food pantries, community gardens, op shops, and counselling services to help those in the community who would otherwise fall through the cracks.

When accessing these services, people receiving assistance also find comfort in the companionship of ADRA and church volunteers, creating a stronger sense of belonging within their community.

Kelly’s Story

When her grandparents were diagnosed with cancer, Kelly moved to Wauchope and took over as carer for her uncle, who lives with Down syndrome. Still locked into her previous lease, Kelly was now paying rent for two homes. The financial strain was huge. Soon, the cupboards were empty.

“I wasn’t going to eat for three or four days if I didn’t find help,” Kelly says.

That’s when her neighbour suggested she attend the ADRA Community Connect Wauchope “SouperVan”.

“I was made to feel so extremely welcome,” Kelly says. “To be able to go to bed that night with a full belly was absolutely amazing.”
