Spotlight: ADRA Community Centre Blacktown

The crucial work of the ADRA Community Centre Blacktown has been recognised on the floor of Parliament.

During Community Recognition Statements on 16 September 2025, Member for Blacktown Mr Stephen Bali MP shared his gratitude for ADRA’s “invaluable support to the Blacktown community.”

He continued, “ADRA helps people who have faced challenges such as domestic violence, addiction, family matters, anxiety, depression and anger management. I applaud the ADRA team and the volunteers who make this possible.”

For years, the ADRA team in Blacktown operated all of its services from the second level of a building opposite the train station. While conveniently located, the centre was only accessible via stairs. This physical barrier cut off access to some of the most vulnerable in the community and made the organisation of food deliveries a physically demanding and logistical challenge for the ADRA team.

But on 11 August 2026, ADRA Blacktown relocated its food pantry to a new, more convenient location with street-level entry, with an official opening to mark the occasion. Not only does the new location allow for greater
accessibility, but the larger space will also enable ADRA to serve even more members of the community each week.

“I was delighted to attend the opening of ADRA’s relocated food pantry,” said Mr Bali. “ADRA can now provide groceries to 350 people per week.”
